21st-27th June - Child Safety Week
The first steps played games, where holding hands was important. This was to help them to understand the importance of holding hands and following instructions such as hold my hand please and lets stop, lets go.
The toddlers played the red and green light game helping children to understand traffic lights crossing signs, using there listening skills for instructions and for noise around them.
The preschool children used the road that was created for them in the garden area, for the bikes to go on and to be aware of both children playing in the garden and the other bikes, not to cause accidents.
They also went on a walk to the museum and although the underpasses were used to get there the children had to cross the small road out side the nursery following the green cross code and while walking they were listening out for the cars.
They also played games promoting safety in the kitchen and always making sure an adult knows where they are.
