Breaking News at Busy Bees
The nursery took part in a scheme called Living Eggs, which provides schools and nurseries with all the equipment they need to look after the eggs before and after they hatch, allowing the children to witness the little chicks hatching in the classroom.
The little ones at nursery watched in amazement as 10 eggs hatched before their eyes, revealing tiny yellow chicks, who are now being looked after in their ‘brooder box’, complete with water, food, heating and bedding, everything that the little chicks need to grow into big, strong chickens.
Nursery Manager, Stacey Ellis, said; “It’s great that the children were able to witness the eggs hatching, it’s not something you get to see very often and it’s a fun way for them to learn about life cycles. I’m not sure who was more excited to see the eggs hatch, the staff or the children!
