Busy Bee visits Leicester Meridian
As part of our Golden Mile campaign and the Olympic games, we have planned a full week of daily activities to celebrate these fantastic sporting events.
So what did our little busy bees at Leicester Meridian get up to?
Monday 30th April - Staff designed their own obstacle course in our garden, so the children were able to take part anytime throughout the day, they even enjoyed designing their own obstacle courses and deciding how they wanted them laid out.
Tuesday 1st May - The great day arrived, Busy Bee who has been travelling across the country finally arrived with his Busy Bee flame torch. The staff and children were so excited to meet him. He was a little wet when he arrived and we had to dry off his wings, with the bad weather at the time.....
Busy Bee spent time meeting all the children and staff, listening to the activities they have been doing and how many miles we have done so far. The children all took part in the garden by passing around to each other our own golden flame which they had enjoyed making in pre-school.
Busy Bee couldn't believe that we have managed to walk 230 miles so far and his wings couldn't stop flapping in delight.
The staff and children were sad to see him leave in the afternoon but were pleased to hear that he was on his way to another Busy Bees nursery to meet lots of other children.
Wednesday 2nd May - Medals Day - making our own games medals and award ceremony. The children in 2-3's and Pre-school received their own medals to say well done for taking part in the Golden Mile event for 2012.
Thursday 3rd May - Music Mile - staff and children walked the mile route, singing songs, playing instruments - making lots of noise and having lots of fun in a carnival style session.
Friday 4th May - Closing ceremony - time for a well-deserved rest!
