Several Busy Bees, Leapfrog and TLC Nurseries have been entered into the Health for Kids Awards 2009, following their efforts throughout 2008 to encourage healthy eating amongst young children in the nurseries.

The national Health for Kids Awards, presented in partnership with the British Heart Foundation, is an excellence programme that rewards good practice for projects and initiatives throughout the UK that have made a real difference to child health.

The nominated nurseries have taken part in lots of fun and educational healthy eating activities, including Fish Fortnight with food nutritionist Ady Delaney, healthy eating discussions and cookery classes.

The Busy Bees Group is committed to healthy eating, partnering up with celebrity chef Phil Vickery in 2008. The Michelin-starred chef, who is a regular on the BBC's Ready Steady Cook, was part of a major national healthy eating campaign by Busy Bees to improve healthy eating among young children. As part of the campaign, Phil worked with the nurseries’ catering teams and an expert on child nutrition, to devise a healthy new menu for the nurseries, to be rolled out nationwide. The new nursery recipes will be distributed free of charge to the parents of the children at the nurseries, and will be available to read and download on the Busy Bees website.

Busy Bees nurseries have always elevated the importance of healthy eating, which is reflected in the nutritious meals the nurseries provide. The nurseries will continue in their commitment to provide delicious, healthy food to all the children at Busy Bees.
