Busy Bees Nursery Supports Winston’s Wish
Winston's Wish is the leading childhood bereavement charity and the largest provider of services to bereaved children, young people and their families in the UK. The charity helps young people re-adjust to life after the death of a parent or sibling and provides professional assistance before, during and after bereavement to help them better understand the nature of loss.
The nursery launched the sponsored charity to parents on the Wednesday 18th May 2011. The nursery asked children to wear something beginning with ‘w’, like wellies, a woolly hat, a wristband or a waistcoat, parents also sponsored a biodegradable balloon so the nursery could release the balloons in the garden. All the money raised has gone to Winston’s Wish.
The nursery will be holding various fundraising events for the charity throughout the year, including the sponsored balloon launch.
Nursery Manager, Lisa Stevens, said; “All the events we are organising for Winston’s Wish are designed to be fun for the children at the nursery, while at the same time, raise as much money as we can for the charity. We are really pleased we are able to give something to those children who need support and care because of the loss of a loved one.”
