Busy Bees Raise over £32k for Charity

Busy Bees Staff and children celebrating raising over £32,000 for charity

Busy Bees are pleased to announce that we have raised over £32,000 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, our sponsored charity for 2009, £12,000 over the target amount!

The total was raised by Leapfrog, TLC and Busy Bees Nurseries, many of whom held lots of fun fundraising activities throughout the year, including activities such as mobile phone amnesties, ‘National Sausage Week,’ sponsored moonlit walks, fun days, and a sponsored horse ride around Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

The biggest contribution came from police officer, Simon Ellis and his two team mates, who drove across Europe, covering 1575 miles in a £200 car! Despite some challenging and testing problems, ‘Team Busy Bees’ completed their 7 day, 7 country car rally across Europe, the only casualty being their 14 year old car, raising £1,500 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Busy Bees presented a cheque for the total amount to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust on the at Leapfrog Day Nursery in London City.

Operations Director, Marg Randles, was overjoyed with the nurseries’ fundraising efforts, commenting that “Busy Bees have enjoyed working with The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and are delighted with the amount we have raised.”

Sarah Guthrie, Director of Fundraising from The Cystic Fibrosis, said "We are absolutely delighted with the support that Busy Bees children, staff and parents gave the Cystic Fibrosis Trust throughout 2009. They have been very creative and enthusiastic with their fundraising activities, ranging from sponsored bounces (on space hoppers!) to dance-a-thons and dress up days. Their dedication paid off and they smashed their original £20,000 target, raising a fantastic £32,048.80."
