Children for Busy Bees Childrens Nurseries set a new world record for the most number of people dressed as Bees at any one time

Thousands of little ones from Busy Bees nurseries across the country dressed up as bumble bees for the day to successfully set a new Guinness World Record™ for the largest gathering of people dressed as bumble bees.

Busy Bees Nurseries officially set the new world record at 1,901, smashing the previous record of 200! To set the record, staff and children from over 100 Busy Bees nurseries across the country wore wings, antennae, and black and yellow stripes for the day.

Everyone who took part in the record attempt donated £1 to raise money for Busy Bees Corporate Charity for 2009, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The record attempt was part of Busy Bees’ involvement with the Department of Health’s national campaign Change4Life, with the aim of raising awareness for the initiative. Many nurseries also got active on the day in their costumes, ‘buzzing’ round parks, or making healthy ‘bee-shaped’ snacks.

Operations Director, Marg Randles, said: “Lots of fun was had by all on the day, and the staff and children put a lot of effort into their costumes. We’re very proud to call ourselves Guinness World Record™ holders!”

Marg went on to say: “The partnering with Change4Life has been a great opportunity to work in partnership with parents to ensure that their child receives a well balanced diet and takes part in plenty of active play and learning, in nursery and at home.”
