Busy Bees tem up with Disney to produce Winnie the Pooh themed garden areas at their nurseries

Busy Bees are delighted to announce that we have exclusively joined forces with Disney to develop ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ themed garden areas for our nurseries.

Disney have produced specially designed packs for each nursery which include a selection of seeds, design ideas and top tips from gardener and TV personality Charley Dimmock and a ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ story book with a sound effects CD.  This pack offers guidance and support on designing the best possible garden areas, creating great learning and fun outdoor opportunities for the children.

Winnie-the-Pooh’s stories are classic tales of imagination in which a child’s everyday world is brought to life in the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh’s love of being outdoors as well as his inquisitive nature, innocence and imagination mean he is the perfect character to help get young children excited about gardening.

Chalie Dimmock will be meeting the winners of a national competition for designing a gardenAs part of the collaboration with Disney, each of our Nurseries will be entering their gardens into a national competition, giving them the chance to win a visit from Charlie Dimmock, who will be replicating the winning garden, as well as receiving a whole host of ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ goodies!

The whole of the nursery will be involved in creating the ‘Winnie the Pooh’ garden area, and will have the chance to help Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity by taking part in sponsored gardening. The Walt Disney Company has teamed up with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to raise £10 million towards the hospital’s redevelopment appeal and the money raised from Busy Bees will help fund a new restaurant, café and Disney Interactive Zone to make the hospital a nicer place for the children and their families.

The partnership with Disney is the next step in Busy Bees’ efforts to encourage children at our nurseries to lead a healthy lifestyle, with large play areas in many nurseries, new adventure playgrounds in recently refurbished gardens, and partnerships with organisations offering activity play sessions, such as baby yoga, dance classes, and football.

Busy Bees’ efforts follow recent campaigns and research, which have highlighted the importance of outside play, including the governments Change4Life campaign and the new government framework, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS recognises that outdoor play is a key part of developing children’s knowledge of the natural world, as well as their movement and imagination.

Operations Director, Marg Randles, said “Teaming up with Disney is a fantastic chance for us to create great learning and fun outdoor opportunities for the children at Busy Bees to enjoy, as well as raise money for an excellent cause. It is an opportunity to involve children and parents in the development of their nursery, and for everyone to work together on further improving our nursery gardens.

Busy Bees look forward to working with Disney, and hope to work together on similarly exciting projects in the future.”
