Busy Bees 'Wipe Out Waste'
Busy Bees is working with JOHNSON’S® Baby to introduce their Wipe Out Waste™ initiative to our mums and dads, encouraging them to do their bit for the environment and ‘up-cycle’ their empty baby wipe packets. Up-cycling is an environmentally friendly process that takes a piece of household waste which can’t be recycled and transforms it in to useful items, like mouse mats, bibs, and bags.
132 Busy Bees nurseries nationwide have signed up to the scheme, and parents from our nurseries are able to start collecting empty baby wipes packs from August. JOHNSONS® have pledged two pence for every empty pack collected, which will be credited to one of our six regional charities, Help for Heroes, Winston’s Wish, Rainbow Trust, Children’s Hospice, Save the Children and Forces Children Trust.
Working with its partner TerraCycle, JOHNSON’S® Baby have launched Wipe Out Waste™ to help reduce the amount of baby wipes packaging going into landfill in the UK and Ireland. The JOHNSON’S® Baby brand is the first baby wipes manufacturer to take the lead to up-cycle its packaging and the Wipe Out Waste™ scheme is the first ever TerraCycle initiative in Ireland.
The first Busy Bees nursery to collect the target number of wipes packs in each size of nursery category will win a Wipe Out Waste™ prize and be crowned the winners of the JOHNSON’S® Baby Wipe Out Waste™ competition. The winners will win fantastic recycled resources for the nursery.
Adrian O’Brien, JOHNSON’S® Baby Wipes Brand Manager, is excited about the partnership, commenting “We know that many mums put their empty wipes packs into the recycling bin in good faith, but then what happens to them? The packaging is already recyclable, but the infrastructure isn’t available through local councils in the UK and Ireland to recycle that particular type of plastic. And with mums getting through hundreds of packs of wipes a year, the JOHNSON’S® Baby team has launched the Wipe Out Waste™ scheme, to provide a better option for mum and the environment. We’re really excited to be working with Busy Bees and the parents at their 132 nurseries nationwide and are hotly anticipating which nurseries will be crowned the winners of the JOHNSON’S® Baby Wipe Out Waste™ competition!”
The Wipe out Waste™ scheme is a great opportunity to help keep waste out of our landfills, contributing to a cleaner world for us and our little ones, so start donating your empty wipe packets at your local Busy Bees nursery today!
