Emma, the nursery cook, and a group of preschool children joined forces today to make a delicious dessert together as a 'Cooking With Me' activity.

The children were actively encouraged to practice their language and literacy by describing what they saw and what they were doing. This lead to some sweet and amusing comments, such as ''It looks like breakfast!'', ''its sticky!'' and ''It's fluffy and pink!'' and (referring to the mini marshmallows included in the recipe)... ''I like sweets!'' 

The preschool children wanted to say ''Thank you to our 'Cookie' Emma ! We had a lovely time. We can't wait to do some more cooking with you again soon!!''

Why not try making 'Chewy Cherry Crunch' at home?

* Melt together some butter and mini marshmallows

* Mix in some rice cereal and some glace cherries 

* Give it a big stir !

* Pour the mixture into a tray to cool, then leave it to set in the fridge.
