Farmhouse Breakfast Week
Farmhouse Breakfast Week returned for its 13th year between 22nd - 28th January 2012
Farmhouse Breakfast Week is an annual campaign run by HGCA which has been running since the year 2000. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of breakfast foods available in the UK.
The theme for the campaign was “Shake Up Your Wake Up” - make small changes to your morning routine to make sure you have time for breakfast every day!
All stages of the food chain, from farmers to food producers and retailers to consumers were encouraged to hold events to promote the importance of starting the day with breakfast and to celebrate the wealth of wonderful breakfast produce available around the country.
Why eat breakfast…
•Breakfast eaters tend to be slimmer than breakfast skippers.
•Eating breakfast can aid concentration and mental performance at work and at school/nursery.
•It provides you with the nutrients and energy needed for an active lifestyle.
•Research shows that breakfast eaters are less depressed and have lower levels of stress than breakfast skippers.
