Fire Brigade Visit!
On Friday 24th August the children had a very special visit from Red Watch, of Stanground Fire Station.
During the week leading up to the visit the children had been discussing fire safety, particularly in the home, and what to do in the event of a fire.
Red Watch arrived with their fire engine, and the fire officer's showed us the equipment that they used, including cutting shears, ladders and grass swatters.
They then showed us how they use the hoses and the children got the chance to have a go. Fire fighter Mark got changed into his breathing apparatus and told us about the dangers of smoke and fire, and what to do.
We were then given a very important job by the Chief Fire Officer, he asked us all to go home and make sure all of our houses had fire alarms, and ask our mummy's and daddy's to check the batteries to make sure they were working.
