The "Cook with Me" Week 15th November 2010

The week was planned to give as many of the Nursery children as possible a chance to find out where our food comes from. This involved visits to our local supermarket, visits to an allotment in Halsall and visits to see chickens in their coops and take home an egg each!! At the allotment the children helped maintain the grounds by taking their tools with them to rake up leaves and twigs. They collected apples and brought them back to Nursery where they made apple sauce to accompany the roast pork they were having for lunch. Morrisons provided opportunities for each child to use the self scanners-this was a major hit with the children and it was funny to see how they enjoyed a task we as adults find quite dull!!!

It was a great week with lots of learning opprtunities for the children, which they really enjoyed. The staff team worked really hard to organise all the trips to ensure all the children had as much fun as possible!
