Happy Birthday Busy Bees!!
28 years ago, the first Busy Bees nursery was opened in Lichfield, Staffordshire by three families who wanted to provide not only their own children with exceptional childcare, but also families in the local area.
In successfully creating a nursery that was homely, welcoming and provided parents with a safe and caring environment for their children, Busy Bees has grown to become the UK’s largest childcare provider with 146 nurseries.
To mark the occasion, Busy Bee has made a special visit to Busy Bees Nursery in St Matthews, Staffordshire, where he will enjoy a delicious Birthday cake made especially for him, and join the children in taking part in fun party games.
Busy Bees’ Managing Director, Marg Randles, shares her story on opening the first Busy Bees Nursery, “I can clearly recall the night before we opened our first nursery 28 years ago. Up until midnight on Sunday 18th March 1984 we had been working in the Chapter House, which was the converted stable block where we welcomed the first children. We had set up the toys for the day and opened the nursery with 6 children. With the smell of paint still lingering and the tarmac on the playground barely dry, we took on the great responsibility and privilege of looking after other people’s children.
“What a journey we have had over the last 28 years. We have survived all the ups and downs to develop a well-respected and successful business. I would like express my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff teams who have been instrumental in the success of the company over the last 28 years, and to the parents and children who have made it possible.”
