1st February 2012
Is January over already!!!!
We've got off to an excellent start for January 2012, the children have recovered from an exciting December and have really got stuck into lots of fun learning opportunities and new experiences provided by our staff team.
The celebrations of Chinese New Year were lovely, the children especially enjoyed a lovely Chinese lunch of sweet & sour chicken (or vegetarian option) with noodles, homemade by our Chef Jenny and Catering Assistant Angela. Pre-school loved making Dragon face masks and decorating red envelopes, to make lucky wallets to take home.
On Thursday 26th January, we were live on BBC Radio Leicester! They caught wind of us celebrating International Australia Day and came down to visit the children and staff. The quote of the morning was from a little boy called James, when asked what the weather was like in Australia?, he replied "It's foggy" - they say you should never work live with children and animals...
Other activities we enjoyed on this day, was making flags, an indoor beach, children did change into beach wear! Looking at boomerangs, Australian animals and enjoying a BBQ style tea in the afternoon.
And finally we are delighted that the manager and staff have completed the work for their NDNA (National Day Nursery Association) accreditation award. The team worked on various units related to childcare for babies and young children, health & safety, nutrition, early years framework, staff teams and students to name but a few. The next step is to await for an assessor to visit the nursery, assess our work and link to actual evidence - we're keeping our fingers crossed!
February - we already have lovely additional activities planned - so keep looking at our website for those updates or even better come down and have a visit!
