Leapfrog Chatham Give Help to the Heroes

Chatham Nursery Staff meet some of the armed forces during Armed Forces Day 2009

On Saturday 27th June, staff from Leapfrog Day nursery in Chatham held a drink stand at the nursery for Armed Forces Day to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The nursery is located in front of Chatham Historic Dockyard, which won the competition to host the first national Armed Forces Day event, complemented by hundreds of events in towns and cities across the UK. On the day, lots of fun events were held at the historic Dockyard, including a fly over from a Lancaster Bomber and a Spitfire, and a stunning aerial display from the red Arrows.

A team of staff from the Leapfrog nursery dressed up in green army uniforms and offered ice cold refreshments and biscuits to the 30,000 people attending the event.  In total, the Leapfrog nursery raised nearly £350 for Help for Heroes.

Nursery Manager, Karen Povey, said “Busy Bees is a great supporter of Help for Heroes and what the charity aims to achieve in helping wounded soldiers. All the girls had a great time and feel that their day was well spent, raising money for Help for Heroes and raising the profile of what the charity does.”
