Leapfrog's Big Day Out

We rode down to the park on two buses and discovered that the onboard toilets functioned, after this every child had to test the toilets at least once.

On arrival we were given a spotters list of all the animals we might see, rhino’s with long pointy horns, giraffes with long stretchy necks, zebra’s with black and white stripes and a big brown cow from Africa called a watusi?

From the savannah we entered the wooded hill and saw a tiger with big long claws, a bear with brown hair and a wolf with grey fur. Then we entered a big enclosure to see “The king of the jungle” the lion. After zigging and zagging down a single track road, a big golden lion popped out of a bush and gave us a roar, after looking out of the windows we went on with the tour and saw the mummy lions sitting under a tree. Next were the monkeys jumping up and down on the bus, swinging on ropes and hiding in tyres and bathing their babies in deep muddy mires.

There were signs on the tour saying “Do not feed the animals” but it was time for our picnic so we drove on. We had sandwiches and cakes and some fresh fruit then went on a walk and listened to a talk.

We learnt about birds as they flew overhead. It was getting hot so we had an ice cream instead. Then we went to the farmyard and played with a goat and other farm animals. Then it was time to go home and leave the animals alone.

The toilets were tested on the way back we learnt how to flush it so it did not smell bad. The driver got lost in Wellingborough and we pretended to be a snake as we wriggled through the streets. As the adults fell asleep we got back to nursery to be picked up by our parents.

A great day out thanks to Emma and her friends
