Lifestyles & Cultures

On Monday 5th September the children at Leicester Meridian had a fantastic new role play area to explore! We are working in conjunction with our local Early Years Foundation Stage Team and educating children about different lifestyles and cultures within our communities. A play trailor and resouces will enable our children to see and experience Gypsy, Roma & Traveller lifestyles and cultures.

The staff feel this fantastic opportuntity will enable children to extend their language, confidence and trigger lots of discussions and questions.

With the success of our caravan role play area - Sam our Assistant Room Manager for Pre school, organised visitor's to come into nursery. On Tuesday 13th September her parents visited the children, bringing along a classic Hillman Imp Car and trailing an origional 1971 caravan, all with it's origional features. The children were able to spend time in the caravan, looking at the furniture and using the water taps too! Sam's Father also bought along a child and adult Penny Farthing bicycle, which he demonstrated his skills at riding the Penny Farthing around the nursery car park.

The staff and children really enjoyed this opportunity of experiencing different forms of transport from the past and linking it to their own knowledge and understanding of the world.
