Nurseries Busy Saving Bees

Busy Bees nurseries are helping to save Britain’s Bees by sponsoring The British Beekeepers Association’s ‘Adopt a Beehive’ campaign.

Busy Bees have sponsored the organisation’s 4000th beehive, which will help fund research into honey bee health, as well as education programmes for beekeepers. The British Beekeepers Association launched the ‘Adopt a Beehive’ campaign after the population of UK bees fell dramatically due to a number of unconfirmed causes, such as disease, parasites, pollution and climate change.

Busy Bees have been helping to support the cause at the British Beekeepers Association’s garden display at Tatton Park Flower Show, which showcased the many different bee-friendly plants available for your garden.

Busy Bees are also displaying at the show, gaining the highest possible grade of ‘highly commended’ by the Tatton Show judges, for their garden inspired by children’s stories ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘Plant a Rainbow.’ The garden features bee-friendly plants, including Buddleia, Geraniums and Magnolias.

In the months leading up to the show, children and staff from the nurseries have been getting creative in their gardens, planting, watering and sowing seeds, as well as making models to enhance the garden’s colourful themes.

Carole Chadderton, Regional Director at Busy Bees, organised the display and fully supports the honey bees cause, “We’re very pleased to be actively involved in the plight of the honey bees. It’s easy to forget how important they are to our environment, but without them many plants would cease to exist, as well as many foods, medicines and cosmetics.”

“It has been a fantastic experience to exhibit our garden at Tatton Park Flower Show. Thanks to the hard work of the nursery teams and kind donations from sponsors, the garden looks fantastic, with flowers representing all the colours of the rainbow, giant fruit for the ‘Hungry Caterpillar,’ and beautiful butterfly ornaments.”

Congratulations to the winners of our coloring competition at Tatton Park Flower Show, Holly Townsend Wallace, Harry Jones, Chloe Chapman, Erin Jones and Elliott Mairs. You each win a host of Peppa Pig or Bob the Builder goodies, including gardening sets, puzzles, travel comforter kits and train sets!

Another congratulations goes to the winner of our prize draw, Sarah Biagetti, who has won £100 in gardening vouchers, and to our runners up, Emily Newton and H Astle.
