Lucy Edwards senior nursery nurse first entered the nursery into the Kettering carnival three years ago, and has never looked back.

The first year, Lucy wrote to local businesses asking them for support in any way they could. Knights of Old answered the nurseries prayers and provided us with a lorry and driver, and this has continued for the last three years. We are extremely grateful for their support, as without them we would not have the transport to enter the carnival.

Over the last three years the carnival has offered the staff, children and parents the opportunity to be creative and get involved in a really lovely community based activity. We strongly believe that the float should be decorated in the children’s own work and that the costumes should also be home made. This gives the nursery and children and parents a real sense of pride and achievement when you see the results of your efforts.

Parents and staff all give up their own time to support this important event and their efforts have clearly been appreciated by the crowds over the years.
We are already putting plans in to place for next year and the Big bopper disco have offered to provide the music again for us next year. They do provide this free of charge and we really appreciate their time and help to make the float the loudest in town.

As a nursery we like parents to be involved and hold many events, giving them the opportunity to help us fund raise for Bliss and other local charity events like the carnival.

We recently received an email from the carnival committee:

"Thank you for your support this year in helping us to raise money for the
Local Blind. This year has been one of our best years with the parade being
the longest in a while, and also our best in collecting. This year you have
helped to raise £1132 from collecting on the parade. This is a great
achievement. Without your help and commitment this would have not been
possible.

Looking on we have already started to plan next year’s Carnival on the 20th
August 2010 and our aim is to beat this year’s success. We would like you to
join us again, without the help and support from you and other organizations
this would not be possible.

Once again thank you for all your support and we hope to see you again next
year."
