Quality Counts at Busy Bees
Date : 15/01/2010

Busy Bees are currently launching an exciting £28,000 investment in the National Day Nursery Association (NDNA) e-Quality Counts scheme, the UK’s largest quality assurance scheme for nurseries. The scheme acts as an indicator of quality to parents and helps nurseries look at how they can improve the quality of care for children and families even further.
The e-Quality Counts scheme is based around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and has now moved online so, to show their support, Busy Bees have invested £28K in the initiative. As a result of this investment, Busy Bees will be piloting the online quality assurance scheme in 33 of the group’s nurseries with the aim of further improving staff knowledge and training in childcare.
A launch event was held at Busy Bees at Farringtons, one of the nurseries piloting the scheme, and was attended by local MP, Bob Neil, who had the chance to meet the children and staff from the nursery. The nursery was decorated specially for the occasion by the children, and guests had the opportunity to take a tour of the setting and meet nursery staff to discuss this exciting new investment. Another event will be held on the 29th January when NDNA’s Chief Executive, Purnima Tanuku, will be making a speech to introduce the benefits of the training scheme and launch the scheme to nursery staff.
Childcare and Curriculum Manager at Busy Bees, Lisa Snell, spoke about Busy Bees’ reasons for investing in the scheme, “Part of delivering a high quality service is our nurseries achieving good all round practice, whilst making an impact on every child’s life who attends one of our nurseries. As part of our commitment to ensuring our nursery staff continue to develop, encourage and maintain high standards of care and education for the benefit of the children, their families and the local community, our Self-Governed sites will undertake the National Day Nurseries Association quality assurance Scheme ‘e-Quality Counts’. Busy Bees have pledged a financial commitment to ensure that going forward our nurseries continue to achieve high quality childcare.”
Purnima Tanuku, Chief Executive of NDNA adds, “We are delighted that Busy Bees is piloting our e-Quality Counts programme which helps nurseries to examine every aspect of their care and early learning to identify ways they can develop their quality for the benefit of children.”
