QIT is a process which:-

• Encourages settings to be reflective about their practice when working with your children
• Starts with an environmental audit which is nationally and internationally recognised (Early Childhood Rating Scales, ECERS).
• Once the setting has engaged with this audit they decide which areas they would like to develop.
• They use a set of statements, which have been developed by Trafford Local Authority from the Early Years Foundation Stage Practice Guidance.
• Observations of practice are carried out by the setting, Local Authority Officers and other partners whom the setting wishes to contribute to their development, including yourselves.
• The statements look for positives as well as areas of development and identify next steps for practice in the setting's quality improvement.

By engaging with this process your child's nursery is showing their commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement.
