Safety Week

Safety Week

During June, we teamed up with Fire lady Sam as part of the national campaign ‘Child Safety Week,’ running from the 28th June-2nd July. The local fire fighters visited the nursery with their fire engine and talked to the children about fire safety. The children enjoyed exploring the fire engine and listening to the siren.

Kayleigh said: “The water comes all the way out of the hose, and woosh!..... into the fire!”.

HIT Entertainment, Fireman Sam’s official licensees, provided Busy Bees Nurseries with 15,000 Fireman Sam ‘Safety First’ activity booklets to distribute to children. The booklet contained fun activities, which aimed to teach children fire safety in the home, including calling ‘999’ in an emergency and identifying safety equipment. The booklet also contained colouring and reading games.

We recognise that children should not be prevented from learning and developing naturally but they need to grow in a safe environment, protected from serious harm. By taking part in Child Safety Week, staff, children and parents at the nursery know more about the dangers of accidents in the home and how to prevent them.
