The children, staff and parents have been fascinated with the new arrivals at nursery:

Monday 23rd April – The eggs arrived and were put in the incubator
Tuesday 24th April – Two of the eggs started to crack and move in the incubator
Wednesday 25th April – Six chicks had hatched at the start of the nursery day, once they were fluffy they were transferred into their new home, with help from the pre-school children who made sure they had food and water. By 10.00 three more had hatched and by 1.00 we had another. Number 10 hatched at 4.00 and the last one has started to crack! By Thursday 26th April all the chick had hatched

The children named all the chicks, Hatch, Lighting McQueen, Sleeping Beauty, Chick Chick, Rosie, La La Lucy, Daisy Duck, Daffy Duck, Harry, Fluffy and Peppa.  A dot was put on their head to tell them apart.

Over the following week the children from all rooms enjoyed coming to see them and couldn't wait to show their parents at the end of each day.

The pre-school children helped to care for them by cleaning them out and giving them food and fresh water daily and also sneaking in a quick cuddle or two!
