The Hive joins BIG
.At Busy Bees The Hive we take bullying very seriously, and are always working proactively to ensure that our pupils/children feel safe and happy at The Hive.
In recognition of this work, I am writing to inform you about an exciting new national anti-bullying award which The Hive is applying for.
The BIG (Bullying Intervention Group) Award is for schools, FE Colleges and community organisations which are attended by children and young people.
To gain the award, we will have to meet strict criteria which will determine whether our anti-bullying practice is of the highest standard possible.
We will then submit our evidence to the Bullying Intervention Group, and the assessment process will decide if we can be presented with the award.
The award is backed by various charities and Esther Rantzen, CBE, President of ChildLine/NSPCC is promoting the scheme as good practice.
If we are successful, we will have a certificate and logo to display and will officially become a BIG Award organisation.
We will be setting up a Bullying Intervention Focus Group, which will be attended by our Children , parents, staff and outside agencies. If you are interested in joining this group, who will meet each term to discuss our bullying prevention work, please let us know.
We will keep you informed of our progress in reaching the BIG Award standard, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us - the BIG Website can be found at www.bullyinginterventiongroup.co.uk - there is a section for parents/carers and also for children and young people on the site offering suggestions if help is needed.
We work with the whole Busy Bees community to keep our children safe and look forward to developing this further in the future.
Esther Rantzen
