Welwyn Busy Bees celebrated National Honey Week!

From the 4th May, Busy Bees Day Nursery in Welwyn Garden City was buzzing throughout the week for National Honey Week.
National Honey Week is an initiative run by the Honey Association, and this year was fronted by celebrity chef, Lesley Walters, who encouraged families to get together and have fun cooking with honey over the May bank holiday.
Children and staff from Busy Bees supported the event by inviting a local beekeeper to speak to the children about how honey is made, a live hive was available for the children to observe the bee’s and the children had the opportunity to dress up in beekeeper protective clothing, all children were given a sample pot of honey and a beeswax candle from the day.
Nursery Manager, Lisa Stevens, said: “Honey is naturally sweet and versatile, therefore it is a fantastic healthier substitute for sugar and a great way of getting the children involved in learning about mini beasts. The children couldn't wait to taste our local honey”
