Northampton
After leaving Busy Bees at Rugby, I flew over to Busy Bees in Daventry, who were taking part in a fun sports day. All the children were dressed the part in their sportswear, and I joined in with their egg and spoon race and I showed them how to balance a beanbag on their head!
I left the children to have a tea party in the garden while I headed over to Busy Bees in Wootton Fields, where the children were all raring to go around their Golden Mile track. The children took me around the nursery garden and showed me their favourite thing, the slide! All this running has not changed my cuddly-bee figure though, so unfortunately I couldn’t fit down the slide, but I enjoyed watching the children’s happy faces as they came down!
I left Busy Bees in Wootton Fields with local runner Damien Carr, who ran the London 2012 Marathon in under 2 hours 30! He had to slow down his pace a little so I could keep up, but we ran the 20 miles to Busy Bees in Kettering. The children waved flags and banners as we arrived at the nursery, and me and my new friend, Damien, ran around the nursery’s Golden Mile track an gave out medals to the children for completing some miles!
I left Busy Bees in Kettering and the children at Busy Bees at Corby cheered me on as I arrived with the torch, and waved their flags in the air. What a lovely welcome! I took part in their sports day, I’m getting very good at the egg and spoon race by now! I presented the children with their own gold medals before enjoying a yummy tea fit for an Olympian! I took some of their special sports-themed cake away with me to enjoy on my journey to Busy Bees in Peterborough .
Will write about my day at Busy Bees in Peterborough soon, I hear they have lots planned for the torches arrival!

Coventry, Warwick and Rugby
I arrived at Busy Bees at Walsgrave Hospital where the children and staff had been very busy decorating their Golden Mile track and it looked beautiful and very colourful! The children showed me their brand new garden area which was fully of areas to play and explore!
After completing a few laps of the Golden Mile track at Busy Bees at Walsgrave Hospital, I headed over to the nursery at Busy Bees at Jolly Roger. The children were busy looking for mini torches which had been hidden from us by the sneaky nursery staff, but we hunted all over the garden until we found every single one! I helped the children to bake some delicious snacks to sell to the parents, which raised money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust!
I then took the torch over to my friends at Busy Bees at Warwick Hospital, and what a lovely afternoon it was! The sun was shining and not a rain cloud in sight. The Mayor of Warwick, Councillor Trudy Offer, was there to welcome the torch and we watched as children and their families took part in a grand Olympic-themed games opening. There were lots of activities like relay races, tug of war and parachute games. Everyone then had a rest from all the fun games to enjoy a tea party in the garden with yummy torch ice – creams! After the tea party we were all treated to an amazing magic show by Uncle Mick and his magic tricks. It really was magical!
Sadly, I left Busy Bees at Warwick Hospital but I was given a warm welcome at Busy Bees in Leamington Spa as I arrived there with the torch, with a red carpet laid especially for my entrance! We all had a great time, as Sohan the Bhangra dancer led us around the Golden Mile track, showing us all how to do some snazzy Bhangra moves!
The children all waved goodbye to me as I left for Busy Bees at Rugby, who were taking part in a Golden Mile race. I cheered on the children at the walked, ran and crawled around the track to see who could get to the finished the quickest! I handed all the children medals for taking part in such a fantastic day!
I’m off to Northampton next in the East Midlands, to visit my friends at Busy Bees in Daventry, Busy Bees in Wootton Fields, Busy Bees in Kettering and Busy Bees at Corby. Will let you know what fun activities they have in store for me soon!

Derby and Leicester
After leaving my friends in Busy Bees in Clifton, I travelled to Oakwood nursery in Derby, where I caught a bus with the nursery staff who showed me the famous ‘Westfield’ shopping centre. I took the opportunity to buy some new red shoes, as mine had gotten very worn from traveling all these miles!
I said goodbye to the staff at Oakwood nursery, and left to make my way to the Heatherton nursery in Derby, where I was met by lots of very excited children! They told me about all the fun things they had done during the week, with a special opening ceremony on the Monday, a treasure hunt around the Golden Mile track on the Tuesday, and a Music Mile around the Golden Mile track with umbrellas, because the rain came down on the Wednesday!
I travelled in the rain to visit Burton nursery, who had been doing lots of sporting activities in the build-up to my arrival, including an obstacle course, a sponsored walk, and dance and music mile. At the nursery I was greeted by the Mayor of Burton and I met the lovely Olympic Badminton gold medallist, Donna Kellogg, who showed the children how to do some expert Badminton moves!
Sadly, I left the Children and Donna to play Badminton in the nursery garden, but arrived at Oswalds nursery in Leicester to glorious sunshine! There I took part in races with the children, using my brand new shoes, and was even awarded a medal for taking part!
After arriving at Meridian nursery in Leicester, I took the torch around the nursery’s Golden Mile track with some very excited children, who waved me off as I left for Carlton Park nursery down the road. There, I met the Chairman of Blaby, who handed the children their certificated to say a big well done for taking part in the Golden Mile and for raising money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.
Tomorrow I’ll be arriving in Coventry for more fun and fitness! Let’s just hope this rain stops so I can enjoy some Spring sunshine on my travels…
