What are the social bookmarking icons for?
The icons allow a quick and easy way to use one of the popular social networking sites to store, tag and share links across the internet.
You can share these links both with friends and people with similar interests. You can also access your links from any computer you happen to be using at that moment in time.
If for example you were at a friends house and wanted to show them the web site for your local Busy Bees nursery then you could simply log into your 'Facebook™' account (or one of the others like stumbleupon or Digg) where you had previously bookmarked it and show them the page instantly instead of having to search around for it on the internet or using search engines.
This means you have a centralized location for all of your favourite bookmarks and web sites, giving the peace of mind that if your PC ever crashed you would still have a list of these favourite sites and not have to try and find all of them again.
All of these social bookmark sites are free to use but do require you to register, although this takes just a minute or two in most instances. Once you have registered you can begin bookmarking.
Each of the sites work slightly differently so use the Wikipedia link below to find out more about the subject and to help you decide which service best suits your needs.
