Together we can make a difference ...

We are delighted to announce that we have chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as our corporate charity for 2009.

Ben Nevis Charity Walk

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK’s only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis, which is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease.

The charity helps and supports people with CF, with daily physiotherapy and medication.  The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is funding groundbreaking medical trials that aim to provide a life saving treatment for people with CF as well as supporting the 8000 people in the UK living with CF today.

Every week 5 babies are born with CF and 3 young lives are lost. Average life expectancy is just 31 years old.

We are looking forward to creating a strong relationship with the charity and a positive year of fundraising activities!

Fundraising activities throughout 2009…

January – Mobile Phone Amnesty

We will be asking all staff and parents to bring in any old mobile phone handsets throughout January.  For every phone collected, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will receive £2.50.  If you would like to join in speak to your Nursery Manager or take your old phones to your nearest Busy Bees, Leapfrog or TLC Nursery.

Throughout 2009 – The Big Bounce

The Big bounce is all about bouncing. Whether it is on space hoppers, trampolines, balls or even a baby bouncer, the key is to get creative with your bouncing. Create an assault course, hire a bouncy castle, create a race, set up obstacles - there are lots of different challenges you can set.

May (9th – 17th) – Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising Week

Thousands of people across the UK will be fundraising for the CF Trust during this week so it is the ideal time to run a dress-up day. The colours of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust are red, blue and yellow so a “Primary colours dress-up day” is brilliant way to raise funds and have fun at the same time.

May to October – Great Strides

Great Strides is our walking campaign aimed at families. The walks are suitable for all ages and range from 5k to 30k and can be completed at your own pace.

For more information, visit www.cftrust.org.uk/greatstrides

October – British Sausage Week

Every year the Cystic Fibrosis Trust joins forces with the British Sausage Appreciation Society to celebrate British Sausage Week. The partnership is perfect as people with CF often have poor appetites and require diets high in calories and protein to maintain a good body weight, which helps fight infection.

Ideas and recipes will be available nearer the time.

November – Dance for Cystic Fibrosis

Give a new twist to your fundraising!

From Belly to Ballet...From Samba to Swing... Groove along and do the FUNdango in our new dance campaign Dance for CF.

Dancing is the fastest growing art form in the UK with 4.8 million people participating in community dance. So get your feet tapping and organise a dance event during CF Dance Week in November.

December – Magic Reindeer Food

Magic Reindeer Food is a small seasonal package of oats and glitter which is sprinkled on to the garden on Christmas Eve to guide Rudolph on his way. The bags will be available in nursery for £1 each.

December – CF Trust Christmas Shop

Every year a range of Christmas cards, gift wrap and stocking fillers are available, with all the profits going to the CF Trust. Christmas catalogues will be available in our nurseries, alternatively, you can order online at www.cftrust.org.uk/cfshop.

Challenge events

From climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks or running the London Marathon to cycling across Vietnam, we have a range of challenges for Busy Bees staff to suit all fitness levels.

Please see www.cftrust.org.uk/help/events or ask for one of our challenge events leaflets for more details.
