About our Nursery

Busy Bees at Leyton Road is situated in the quiet Hertfordshire town of Harpenden, with easy access to the local railway station and the M1.

The nursery is set in a beautiful building, over two floors, with rooms specifically designed to accommodate the children and staff. Busy Bees at Leyton Road caters for children aged 3 months to 5 years, divided into 8 groups to ensure age appropriate development and activities.

The facilities in each group room are tailored to suit the children’s needs, creating social and stimulating environments for all children. This is achieved through planned activities, a wide range of exciting equipment and toys, and through personal interaction to develop social skills. Our support workers provide services such as French lessons, music and drama classes. There is also a part-time teacher who covers the national curriculum with the pre-school groups.

All our meals are freshly prepared on the premises by our fully qualified cook, who provides a wide range of nutritious meals, as well as catering for dietary requirements.  

The children have access to the safe and secure garden area, which is divided into two sections. The grassy area, shaded by trees, is specifically designed for under 2’s. The remainder of the play area, used by the over 2’s, has both hard and soft surfaces and contains a variety of outdoor play equipment. 

The children have the opportunity to visit local parks and businesses to broaden their experiences in nursery. The parks are also the venues for several of our community activities, such as ‘Fun in the Park’ and ‘Teddy Beards Picnic’.

The staff at Busy Bees at Leyton Road take the care and safety of the children very seriously. They work hard to create a fun and enjoyable experience for the children at the nursery, and always strive to ensure that our high standards are maintained.

Opening Times

Monday - Friday: 7:30am to 6.30pm
Morning Session: 8:15am to 1:15pm
Afternoon Session: 1:30pm to 6.00pm

The nursery can be flexible to meet parents' needs within the
opening hours, by prior arrangement.

Activities Noticeboard

There are a variety of activities offered at Busy Bees at Leyton Road including hand painting, collage making and clay modelling. The children also take part in 'Messy' play which includes sand, water, jelly and cornflour play. Imaginative play is also encouraged as well as cooking activities and physical play. The children in the pre-school room take part in activities and multicultural topics which links with the Early Learning Goals.

The children throughout the nursery all take part in 'Garden Time' on a daily basis, which allows them to enjoy the outdoors and promotes physical play. A teacher also visits on a daily basis during term time.

OFSTED

Our Day nursery facilities are registered with the Department of Education and Employment DfES) to accept grants for Early Years education for children aged three and four and activities are geared to meet the requirements of Ofsted incorporating the Early Learning Goals.

Activities also take into consideration all aspects of the National Curriculum Key Stage One.

Children are given every opportunity to make their own choices with encouragement and help from staff and parents.
