Food for Thought

At Busy Bees at Chorley NHS we make mealtimes happy social occasions, where skills can be developed and new foods tasted.

We are dedicated to providing your children with fresh, well-balanced meals every day; that not only taste great, but that also provide lots of nourishment.

Phil VickeryTo ensure we are providing well balanced, nutritious meals to our children, the Busy Bees catering team worked alongside Michelin-starred chef, Phil Vickery, and a child nutritionist to create a brand new range of delicious recipes to use, as part of the nurseries' day to day menus.

Our nursery has a fully equipped kitchen where all meals are prepared and cooked using only the freshest produce - including fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

Each meal is carefully planned to meet each child's individual needs and to cater for any special dietary requirements.

Busy Bees at Chorley NHS has recieved the nationally accredited ‘Lancashire Healthy Schools Award,’ after 18 months working towards the award.

The Lancashire Healthy Schools Programme is organised by Lancashire County Council in partnership with the local North, Central and East Lancashire NHS, and aims to raise educational achievement to improve health in childcare settings across the Lancashire area, acting as an indicator of quality to parents.

To gain the quality award, the nursery worked hard to demonstrate high standards of achievement in six key areas of care, including Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, and Emotional Health and Well-Being.
Achieve the healthy schools award.

The nursery have also won the SeaFood 'Encouraging Children to eat Seafood' award in 2009. The nursery held visits from seafood chef and child nutritionist, Ady Delaney, and the topic of fish was introduced into all areas of the Busy Bees curriculum. The children were able to cook with a variety of fish, as well as make sushi and develop role play areas themed around fish.

We also hold the 'Recipe 4 Health' certificate from Environmental Health
