A Bee Keeper came to Busy Bees Beverley today to teach the children about bees and the importance of them. The children learnt about how the Bees collect nectar from the flowers and pollinate other flowers. They also got to try on glasses to make them see how a bee sees and looked at pictures of the different types of bees which there are.

The children discovered that Bees are perfectly adapted to pollinate, they help plants grow, breed and produce food. Bees do so by transferring pollen between flowering plants and so keep the cycle of life turning. The vast majority of plants we need for food rely on pollination, especially by Bees, Bees pollinate a third of everything we eat, all sorts of fruit and vegetables are pollinated by honey bees, such as broccoli and squash, apples and almonds. Its important we look after the Bee as the Bee looks after us.
