What are chatterboxes?

A chatterbox is a box the children have created with their families that contain photos of people who are special to them.  The box also contains items that are special to the children.  The boxes are put together to encourage the children to talk and therefore develop their speech, language and communication skills.

What we did

Jacob in our poppy room here at our Leytonstone nursery choose his chatterbox of the shelf.  He then choose to sit in a box and looked through the items with his key person Vimla.  He talked about his family members and how they are related to him.  The other children seeing Jacob looking at his box then came over and was listening to him talk about the items.
