We have had a busy day today celebrating the enrolment week theme of 'Take care Tuesday'. We have been showing lots of families around today and they have been taking advantage of our enrolment week offer of one weeks free childcare! (terms and conditions apply)
Our children spent lots of time talking about people who help us and doing various role play activities to learn about different professions.
Our foundation class (3-5's) children drew what they want to be when they grow up and used the people who help us occupational puppets to aid this. We had lots of different ideas from the children including a pilot and a farmer. This aided new vocabulary and allowed the children to talk about their aspirations and dreams for the future.
Our Babies used the playdough, people, wooden town and emergency vehicles to encourage new vocabulary and communication with the babies. The babies tried to copy words and made gestures towards the different resources in the play town.
Our Ladybirds (2-3's) involved the play people in the sand with the occupational flashcards. the children talked about the different uniforms and pretended to offer care for the people in the sand as one of these professions.
Our Caterpillar children (2-3's) read the policeman book and role played being police men. The children really enjoyed acting out the policeman story and helping the children cross the road, stopping people who have taken items from a shop and phoning the local school to see if all the children are ok.
