The children in Little Miss Helpful took part in the Flat Stan First Aid Workshop with Busy Bees First Aid trainer Steve. The Flat Stan workshop allowed the children to interact, learn and have fun in a comfortable learning environment, at the same time benchmarking and meeting key stage and curricular objectives.
The workshop provided the children with key skills and knowledge to recognise a variety of first aid situations and how to deal with them and call for help.
The Flat Stan manikins gave children confidence when being shown how and when to summons help, how to check if someone is breathing, how to deliver chest compressions, how to help someone who is choking, bleeding or help someone who has suffered a burn.
The children worked in pairs to complete the recovery position and practise their bandaging skills. They all remembered the magic number ‘999.’
