Networking at the Nursing Home

Our Assistant Manager Raine liaised with one of our Grandparents, who works at a local Nursing Home and arranged for a small group of our pre-school children to visit them and engage in some lovely activities.

Raine and Kim took a group 5 children on the short walk down the road and received a very warm welcome from the staff and residents of Ghyll Royd Nursing Home. The home had set up tables ready for the eldery and the young to take part in together. They were able to draw and colour and the nursery took some magnetic blocks to use with the residents.

Raine organised this because studies have shown that such opportunities can provide stimulating and social experiences for both generations and this is something we are hoping to do this regularly with our older children.

The children were very well behaved and the residents claimed they were 'lovely to watch'. There was lots of smiles from everybody and we look forward to the next time we can visit.

The nursing home have mounted one of the pictures that one of the children and a resident made together on the wall for everyone to see!
