Nursery Events in February
7th Feb Health Visitor Julia Headland Health Visitor will be in from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm
9th Feb National Pizza Day To celebrate National Pizza Day, our chef Carolyn will support the children today in making their own individual pizzas for tea time!
The key people will talk positively to the children about healthy eating while selecting different ingredients such as mushrooms, peppers and pineapple to top their pizzas! This supports their understanding in the aspect of Health and Self-Care for Physical Development. This relates to the National Curriculum, The Early Years Foundation Stage.
The children will also develop other aspects of the curriculum such as developing their vocabulary and talking about what they are doing for Communication and Language and building fine manipulative skills as they use pincer grip to select toppings and manage tools to spread tomato paste! Children will have the opportunity to express themselves as they decorate their pizza creatively making patterns with shapes or representing objects or people!

13th Feb Pancake Day To celebrate Shrove Tuesday the children will do the pancake race and have pancake for tea. The Children will add a variety of toppings/fillings and talk about being healthy with their key people. They will develop a range of skills relating to the moving and handling aspect of the Early Years Foundation Stage and our professional and experienced staff will be asking open-ended questions to challenge children's thinking and introducing new adjectives to describe taste, texture and smell!
14th Feb Valentine Today we will be inviting the children and staff to come dressed to the nursery in red and pink to celebrate Valentines Day. The children will have a range of activities on offer to them themed around valentines and hearts, we will be making some heart shaped biscuits, topped with some red and pink icing for the children to take home to their loved ones.
16th Feb Chinese New Year Today we will be celebrating Chinese New Year here at St Albans Nursery& Montessori Pre-School. The children will have a range of exciting activities along the theme of Chinese culture and the year of the dog. The children will be able to get busy making some Chinese lanterns, where they will be able to choose from a range of bright coloured materials.
We will finish off our celebrations with a lovely Chinese tea of sweet and sour chicken with noodles all cooked freshly on site by Carolyn our nursery chef.
Parents Evening Appointment slots will be going up by end of Jan for you to book in with your child's key person for10 minutes at a time. This is a great opportunity for you to have a catch up and go through the latest assessments and trackers and understand what your child will be working on over the coming months

26th Feb Twins, Double the love celebrations In April this year we will be an outstanding nursery to 7 sets of twins, this truly is amazing!! Many people say double the trouble, we prefer to say double the love.
To celebrate we would like to hold a double the love play session and tea party, with all of the twins and their amazing mummies and daddies. This play session and tea party will take place on Mon 26th Feb from 2.30pm
