Comparing creepy crawlies and measuring masterpieces are some of the ways that staff at here Tibbi Tots are bringing maths to life for children.

The staff at the nursery have been introducing children of all ages to a number of activities designed to inspire them to learn maths concepts, such as counting and measuring, through creative play and engaging games. Many adults see maths in a negative light, due to the way it is taught in some schools. This is because maths is often taught as a fact finding mission rather than a storytelling narrative. However, the Nurturing Problem Solving to Mathematics Programme, which the nursery is launching uses play to draw out the natural problem solving abilities of the children it cares for, helping them to develop a confident approach to maths.

Some activities on offer are filling buckets with sand and counting how many scoops it takes to fill, sorting and matching objects with the same features, baking activities, jigsaw puzzles and lots more!!
