Last week we celebrated receiving NHS Startwell recognition for our menus by holding a food tasting event for parents.
Parents enjoyed a selection of dishes, all freshly prepared by the nursery’s chefs, including vegetable and bean burritos, lentil scones and homemade chocolate and blueberry brownies.
The Startwell menu accreditation sets out guidelines to help settings plan and prepare meals that create a healthy environment for young children.
Heidi, Nursery Manager, said: ‘I’m delighted that the nursery’s long standing commitment to encouraging healthy start in life has been recognised by the NHS Startwell. Getting parents to sample some of the dishes on the menu and sharing the recipes is a great way to promote well balanced diet and home cooking.’
Gemma Gill, Consultant and Nutritionist at NHS Startwell, said: ‘Busy Bees new summer menu will provide the children in its care with the nutrients and minerals needed to fuel their energy, help stimulate their curiosity and give them a healthy beginning to their development.’
