Over the weekend, the pre-school staff sent home some bags encouraging the children to take a nature walk and see what they could find in celebration of the start of Autumn. To extend on this at nursery the Penguin's decided they would like to go for a short walk outside the nursery grounds and see what they could find on a special hunt.
They came back through the front door with bags full of exciting natural materials such as sticks and crispy leaves that had just fallen from the trees, when they were emptying their bags they discovered they had brought back a couple of little spiders too!
Some children all decided they would like to paint their sticks, others were using their mathematical language to talk about whos was 'bigger' or 'smaller.'
Next week the children will continue to learn about the natural environment and how things grow by exploring pumpkins and other squashes in celebration of Halloween. In the meantime, keep bringing in your photos of your nature walks, we love to see them!
