Reflecting on 2017
Dear Parents, carers and visitors,
As the time draws closer to Christmas and the end of another year, I've had a chance to reflect on my 4 short months here at Shenley.
I wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of you who has given me the time and support on this new venture of mine. I know i have been with the company for a decade (yikes that makes me feel old!) but becoming a manager was a big step for me, and i'm glad i was given this opportunity.
I know many of you have seen this year out through Shenley, through the ups and downs but i wanted to share with you my plans for 2018; Parent partnership is my biggest priority, second to ensuring the children's needs and development is met of course - so i'm very happy with those of you that have said that the communication has improved greatly since i have arrived and i very much believe that as your children are why we do the jobs that we do, that you are involved every step along the way.
As we start back in the new year, the nursery will be trialing new initiatives such as our new preparing for school room, story stretching, a shoe free zone in the baby room and much more that i will tell you all about in due course as things begin to role out.
The staff will all be undertaking new and exciting training opportunities to develop and enhance their skills over the coming year and we have some new staff joining us which means some room changes will be taking place. And we will be rolling out our new staff uniform from January onwards which gives a much more professional feel to the nursery and look very smart - i will be starting off with the seniors and room managers first and then disseminating through the whole team so keep your eyes peeled.
Jessica started at the beginning of this month, some of you may have met her already; She will be one of our new Early Years Educators working in our new 'Preparing for school room' alongside Julie and Valeria.
Valeria currently works in the Toddler room but will be moving across to support the preschoolers going to school and then moving back when they all graduate.
Honey joins the team in January also as an Early Years educator and will be working between the different rooms to begin with as support while she completes her induction process. Once she finishes this she will be based full time within a room which i will let you know in due course.
Danielle Wilkinson will be leaving to go on Maternity Leave at the beginning of February to have her little bundle of joy. We will be doing a collection for her for anyone who does wish to put in, but you are under no obligation to do so.
I am also taking nominations for January's employee of the month, so please can i ask that you all think about a staff member who has made a difference to you or your child this month and let me know and i will tally up the winner.
I hope you all have a fantastic time with your families, friends and loved ones over the coming week - Those of you who have celebrated Hanukkah i hope you had a lovely time, those of you celebrating Christmas - eat drink and be merry!
As ever, kind regards
