Road Safety Week started on Monday 21st November and we teamed up with 'Brake' and asked all of our parents and children to make the Brake Promise. It has been designed to explore how we can look out for ourselves and others, and campaign for safer streets around our homes and schools.
I'll help drivers understand that the slower they drive around our homes and schools, the more chance they have of avoiding a crash and saving a life.
I'll sit in my child seat and/or wear my seat belt on every journey, and make sure friends and family do too.
I'll help whoever is giving me a lift by keeping quiet in the car and letting the driver concentrate on driving.
I'll use my eyes and ears to look and listen for traffic when walking along the pavement and crossing the road.
I'll walk, cycle or scoot to school if I can, to make me strong and healthy and to help the planet.
We spoke to the children about how to cross the roads safely and what the dangers are they need to look out for.
In our Toddler and Pre School rooms the staff took the children on road safety walks. In our First Steps room, the children learnt through role play.
