Tasty Tuesday

Today in Wiggly Worms they children took part in fruit tasting. Groups of Children took it in turns  to have a go at tasting a range of different fruits which were Raspberries, Blackberries, blueberries, mango, melon, starfish and Papaya. Most of the children really enjoyed tasting the different fruits they had not tried before. A lot of them enjoyed the more popular fruits. The children used their different senses including smell, feel and taste. The children spoke about the colours we could see and the shapes of the different fruits.

Pre-school also took part in a fruit tasting activity, the children helped the staff to cut up different pieces of fruit including mango, blackberries, raspberries, star fruit and papaya. All the children enjoyed taking part and all the children tried at least one piece. As they tasted the fruits they talked about the feel of each piece, and what they tasted and smelt like.

They discussed other fruits that they have tried at home, and the children told us what colours the different fruits were. They then had a discussion about other healthy foods we try at home, and the children began to name different vegetables.

The children we now extend this but doing a vegetable tasting activity.
