Visit us during Enrolment Week 18th-22nd January!

At Busy Bees, we believe that providing children with a nutritious and balanced diet is an essential part of delivering quality childcare. Our carefully planned seasonal food menus give children who attend our nurseries the opportunity to experience a variety of healthy foods, providing them with the energy they need for a day of play and learning.

Come along to one of our nurseries at any time during Enrolment Week, Monday 18th- Friday 22nd January to celebrate Nutritious Food That Children Love! Discover more about the food we serve to children in our nurseries and what makes our food unique.

Busy Bees Training for Chefs and Staff

It is important that our Busy Bees chefs understand the link between diet and health, which is why we have designed tailor made courses for our chefs and staff. The courses are both accredited by Skills First and help to further develop our chef’s skills and knowledge, so that they are able to provide the very best meals and snacks for our children, and also offer advice to parents.

Silver Food for Life Catering Mark

We are delighted to have been awarded the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark by the Soil Association for the second year running. 220 of our nurseries currently hold this award, which provides an independent guarantee that the food we serve to children is trustworthy, fresh and traceable. Our seasonal food menus will vary between our nurseries, as they are planned according to the local produce available to guarantee that the foods are fresh and retain high nutritional value. Using local foods also helps to reduce the food miles and our carbon footprint.

Fun and sociable experience

Meal times in our nurseries are celebrated! It is important that children in our nurseries have a positive and enjoyable experience during meal and snack times. The staff are encouraged to eat with the children and openly discuss the foods being offered and eaten, to help the children make informed choices.

Meet individual dietary requirements

Our experienced and qualified chefs will meet with parents to discuss their child’s individual dietary requirements. We have a dedicated dietary food supplier to all nurseries, to ensure that we are able to offer each child a varied and balanced diet.

Regular Meals and Snacks

Our menus are planned using School Food Trust Menu Planning Guidance, which allows children to eat to their appetites.

Children are provided with regular healthy meals and snacks throughout the day; a normal day at one of our nurseries will start with breakfast and then a mid-morning snack, followed by a two-course lunch. There is another snack offered in the afternoon and also a two course tea.

Dedicated Catering Management Team

We are proud to have our own dedicated Busy Bees Catering Management Team, who help support Nursery Managers, Nursery Chefs, and any parents with catering concerns. Our catering team work hard to ensure that the high quality and standards of the food that we serve are constantly exceeding expectations, and that all of our chefs and staff are knowledgeable in what to serve to children.

Food for the whole family

Our Busy Bees chefs work very hard to ensure that the food that is served to children in their nurseries offers a healthy and balanced diet that children enjoy. In addition to offering food at nursery, our chefs are always on hand to help parents to cook similar style meals at home for the family. Our chef’s recipes can be found on the chef’s board in reception or near to the kitchen at most nurseries for you to take away and try yourself at home. Let us know which ones you like best!

Book a visit to your nearest Busy Bees nursery to learn more about our seasonal food menus, meet our dedicated teams and chefs, and experience the food education that we offer to children in our nurseries. We look forward to seeing you soon.
