It is never a dull day here at our purpose-built nursery in Derby Heatherton with the wide range of fun-filled activities we have on offer. 

Your little one will have heaps of fun during their time at nursery as they get involved in weekly Spanish lessons, bi-weekly football sessions and termly exotic animal classes!  

We understand just how important it is for children to discover outdoor learning and enjoy the fresh air. So, with our unique discovery garden, children can continue the fun outdoors as they explore their imagination and take on safe risks whilst supervised.

Here at Busy Bees Derby Heatherton, we are lucky to have a long-standing member of the team who has been with us since 1999, along with a level 6 SENCO, and a teacher, to help support every child throughout their development.

Our Interactive Smart Board is used daily to bring learning to life and provides children with a hands-on approach with technology.

Funded Childcare
We offer government funded places for children aged 3 to 4 years, please speak to the Centre Director for more information.

Teacher
We have a fully qualified Teacher in our pre-school room who delivers exciting learning opportunities, whilst ensuring statutory and legal welfare requirements are met for every child.

Foundation Class
The foundation class nurtures each child's natural curiosity within a structured framework providing pre-school children with an early introduction to school life.

ParentZone
We keep families informed through ParentZone, an online learning journal platform, which can be accessed via a smartphone app.

UP
Exclusive to Busy Bees, UP is a learning and development app used by educators in our nursery and parents at home. Search ‘UP by Busy Bees’ on the app store to find out more.

We offer online booking for extra ad-hoc sessions at this nursery with Pebble.

Food at Busy Bees at Derby Heatherton

Children need nutritious food to get them through their busy days. At our nursery in Derby Heatherton, we provide snacks, meals, and drinks for your child during their day with us, all of which are included in your nursery fees. 

Delicious and packed with all the natural goodness growing children need, our seasonal menus are NHS-accredited and are prepared with locally sourced ingredients. They're prepared on-site by our trained nursery chef, who would be happy to accommodate any dietary requirements or allergies, simply speak to your Centre Manager to find out more.

Breakfast  

Fresh fruit with a selection of cereal or porridge. 

Morning Snack  

Fresh fruit with wholemeal toast or baked goods, served with a cup of milk or water. 

Lunch  

Garlic bread, followed by seaside pasta bake (vegetarian option: veggie pasta bake) served with green beans, sweetcorn and a cup of water.  

Afternoon Snack  

Fresh fruit or vegetable sticks served with a cup of milk or water. 

Early Evening Snack 

A selection of pitta pockets for the children to choose from, served with coleslaw and a cup of water. Followed with fresh fruit for dessert.

Our Fees

Did you know Busy Bees also offers government-funded childcare? Preparing for School

In order to best prepare the children for the next big chapter of their lives, Busy Bees do all that they can to support and celebrate the transition. All of the planned activities and experiences which take place within our Busy Bees Nursery in Derby are designed to provide a foundation of skills that will help them grow in becoming confident and capable learners.

You will find our nursery in Heatherton on Hollybrook Way just a 15-minute drive from Derby City Centre. 

With the A38 just a 2-minute drive from the nursery, we are in the ideal location for those commuting.  

Rest assured, if you are arriving by car, there is a private car park onsite for safe and seamless drop-offs and collections.  

Arriving via public transport? There is a bus stop just a short distance from the nursery at Nuffield Hospital, serving routes 234 and V3.
