Located on the grounds of the QE Hospital, our Kids 1st Gateshead nursery is a spacious, inviting space for children to explore, discover and learn while enjoying the huge variety of resources and activities on offer.

Busy Bees nursery Queen Elizabeth Hospital boasts multiple nursery rooms, each tailored to a variety of ages and developmental stages. Our friendly and supportive staff go the extra mile to fully support the development of the children within the setting, making sure the activities are planned in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This helps to ensure they are ready for the next stage of their education journey.

Each of the nursery rooms boasts its own outdoor space, with free-flow access, giving all children the opportunity to get fresh air, physical exercise, and take safe risks on outdoor equipment, while under supervision.

We not only accommodate pre-school age children but also have the facilities to look after those who are younger and need extra care and support. With cots, cosy chairs for cuddles and stimulating sensory equipment, we can’t wait to welcome your little one!

Parent Room
Our parent room is a dedicated safe space for us to get to know your family and you to speak in confidence with our nursery team about your child's nursery life.

Smart Board
Our Interactive Smart Board is used daily to bring learning to life and provides children with a hands-on approach with technology.

Funded Childcare
We offer government funded places for children aged 3 to 4 years, please speak to the Centre Director for more information.

Teacher
We have a fully qualified Teacher in our pre-school room who delivers exciting learning opportunities, whilst ensuring statutory and legal welfare requirements are met for every child.

Foundation Class
The foundation class nurtures each child's natural curiosity within a structured framework providing pre-school children with an early introduction to school life.

ParentZone
We keep families informed through ParentZone, an online learning journal platform, which can be accessed via a smartphone app.

UP
Exclusive to Busy Bees, UP is a learning and development app used by educators in our nursery and parents at home. Search ‘UP by Busy Bees’ on the app store to find out more.

We offer online booking for extra ad-hoc sessions at this nursery with Pebble.

Food at Kids 1st - QE Gateshead

The fees you pay are inclusive of all meals, drinks, and snacks, which are prepared on-site by our nursery chef each day.

We understand it can be tricky to get little ones to eat healthy, nutritious food which will support their overall health and development. Our clever kitchen team ensures they come up with inventive ways of getting the children to eat the right things, regularly changing the menu, and getting feedback from the nursery team.

Get a taste of what your child might expect to eat while at our Kids 1st QE nursery:

Breakfast

Fresh fruit with a selection of cereal or porridge.

Morning Snack

Fresh fruit with wholemeal toast or baked goods, served with a cup of milk or water.

Lunch

Salmon fish fingers or veggie fingers served with potato wedges and mushy peas, with banana and sultanas for dessert.

Afternoon Snack

Fresh fruit or vegetable sticks served with a cup of milk or water.

Early Evening Snack

Wraps with a choice of fillings and tomato wedges, with yoghurt and berries for dessert.

Our Fees

We believe in an open and transparent approach to nursery fees. Click the button below for weekly, daily, and session rates for our exceptional childcare.

Did you know Busy Bees also offers government-funded childcare? Preparing for School

In order to best prepare the children for the next big chapter of their lives, Busy Bees do all that they can to support and celebrate the transition. All of the planned activities and experiences which take place within our Kids 1st Nursery in Gateshead are designed to provide a foundation of skills that will help them grow in becoming confident and capable learners.

You can find our nursery on the grounds of the QE Gateshead. So, it’s ideal for parents who work in or nearby the hospital.

We want to make parents’ lives as easy as possible, which is why we provide on-site car parking for convenient pick-up and drop-off. There’s a handy buggy store too - for those arriving on foot who may need to store a stroller.

"Amazing team who really prioritise the needs of the children! My daughter became really unsettled recently after some of her friends moved groups and the girls noticed the impact this had on her right away and were keen to do something about it. We couldn’t ask for more and feel completely comfortable with leaving our daughter in the care of the staff. "

"My little boy went here from the age of 6 months and he never settled at all, I always found it very busy and not enough time for one to one with my little boy. On pick up my son was always upset as if he was relieved to be collected and there was always baby left crying at the door each time I was there. They once told me they did not have time to sit and comfort my son who was crying. Some staff were nice some just did not have time to listen to you, I always seemed rushed out at the end of my child’s session. My son is a very fussy eater and was almost always given the same food he DID not eat each day, there was no alternative offered even though I requested an alternative, I ended up packing food for him myself such as pouches and fruit. The nursery itself is beautiful but the whole atmosphere of the place threw me off. Very over priced for the services being received. "

"The girls are mostly lovely and very caring towards my son and the facilities are clean and well kept but for the cost of a day there should be more choice of food other than sandwich’s for dinner. My son is always hungry at pick up because he doesn’t eat sandwich’s. "
