Parent Testimonials

"I cannot fault Busy Bees in Canterbury. My Daughter has been attending there for the past 2 and a half years and the staff in every room have been fantastic. There is not a day when Amelia doesn't want to go to nursery. Thank you."

"Busy Bees at Kingsmead, Canterbury is fabulous!! My daughter has a disability and 'the girls' at the nursery have been so wonderful in caring for her and helping her in her standing frame and with her exercises. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and you can see that they all genuinely love children. My daughter has a wonderful relationship with her key person Sheryll, sometimes she doesn't even want to come home! She's learnt so much from being there and has made lots of friends. The food is outstanding too, my daughter often finishes all of her meals there and she seems to prefer the chef's cooking to my own(!) :-) I feel totally happy leaving my daughter at Busy Bees in Canterbury and would recommend it without a doubt to other parents"

"We are delighted with Busy Bees. Our daughter Isabelle is very happy in the friendly, loving environment provided by Vicky (key worker) and her colleagues. She seems to thoroughly enjoy the activities offered and it's lovely to see her grow in confidence each week. Thank you for giving us such peace of mind."

"This is a terrific nursery. The carers themselves are thoroughly professional, caring, warm and observant of my son's needs. The nursery itself is well managed, clean, efficient and orderly. It has a happy, supportive and welcoming feel which clearly enthuses all who work there. I feel very lucky to have found such a place, and consider it the ideal stepping stone to pre-prep."

"We have always been very happy with the nursery & our daughter loves it & looks forward to going. She has even chosen on occasion to go to nursery rather than spend the day with Mummy & Daddy! Our second daughter is due to start attending the nursery in 2010 & we would highly recommend the nursery to anyone looking for childcare. We are very glad to have such great childcare for our children & never have any hesitation in sending her to nursery. The staff are always very approachable, caring & communicative."

Quality Childcare

Providing high standard, high quality childcare is of utmost importance to us and we want your child to enjoy their time at our nursery. Each child is treated as an individual and we strive to ensure that each child's social, physical and emotional needs are met.

At Busy Bees at Canterbury some of our unique objectives to providing high quality childcare include...

  • We pride ourselves on our effective Key Person approach providing a familiar contact point for all families, putting the well being and developmental needs of the individual child first
  • We believe in a broad and well balanced curriculum. Using continual observation we are able to build on your child's interests and abilities and plan your child's next experiences
  • We believe in high quality training and development of all staff to provide the best experiences and care for your children

Ofsted

Busy Bees at Canterbury is regulated and inspected under the Children's Act by Ofsted and receives inspections and visits to ensure that our practices and procedures are in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) welfare requirements.

Here are some of the comments from our latest Ofsted report: -

"Children benefit from opportunities to play outside everyday in a secure environment.  Children clearly enjoy playing outside and are developing their physical skills using a range of equipment and activities which promote their large muscle development and help to acquire a healthy attitude to physical exercise"

"Staff have a secure knowledge of how children learn. The team receive good support from a skilled practitioner, as a result children are making good progress in their learning. Observations are made on children to identify children's next steps. These are used effectively to inform the planning of activities to ensure all children are sufficiently challenged"

"Parents are greeted warmly by staff and are welcome to stay and settle their children. Parents receive written information from staff sharing details of their child's food, drink and rest routines. In addition, staff take photographs of children to share with parents with the title 'A Day in the Life'. This helps parents understand how their children spend their time in the setting"

Healthy Eating

Food for Thought

At Busy Bees at Canterbury we make mealtimes happy social occasions, where skills can be developed and new foods tasted.

We are dedicated to providing your children with fresh, well-balanced meals every day; that not only taste great, but that also provide lots of nourishment.

Phil VickeryTo ensure we are providing well balanced, nutritious meals to our children, the Busy Bees catering team worked alongside Michelin-starred chef, Phil Vickery, and a child nutritionist to create a brand new range of delicious recipes to use, as part of the nurseries' day to day menus.

[Click Here] to download a sample nursery menu and see some of the tasty dishes being served in our nurseries.

Our nursery has a fully equipped kitchen where all meals are prepared and cooked using only the freshest produce - including fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

Each meal is carefully planned to meet each child's individual needs and to cater for any special dietary requirements.

  • Parental input is a priority when designing our menus and we ask families to suggest meals their children enjoy at home and those that feature within their cultural groups. We cater for children with allergies and other dietary requirements
  • Nutritious and wholesome food is at the heart of our healthy eating philosophy and all our food is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises by our qualified chef. We source many of our ingredients locally, including fish and fruit and vegetables
  • We encourage children to be independent at mealtimes, by allowing the children to serve themselves and promoting active involvement with our 'Make your own Pudding Day'
