About Us

Busy Bees on Brooke Street is located in the centre of Chorley town. It is a purpose-built, two-storey nursery with separate facilities for the Out of School Care and Holiday Club.
 

 

Meet the Manager

Karen started working for Busy Bees in 1996 as a Nursery Nurse working with two to three year olds and later with preschool children and was promoted to Deputy Manager in 1999. In 2000 Karen moved to Busy Bees nursery at the Land Registry in Lytham where she became a Nursery Manager.

Karen then moved to Busy Bees at Ashton House in 2002 as the Nursery Manager before moving to Brooke Street in Chorley in January 2010, she is also an Area Manager covering the North West Region. More recently Karen became part of the Equality and Diversity Forum for the company.

Karen has undertaken training on Safeguarding Children, British Safety Council Level 1 Health and Safety, Early Years Foundation Stage, Basic Food Hygiene, Special Education Needs and First Aid at Work.

Karen is currently completing a Level 3 in Forest School Training, which focuses on outdoor play in natural environment.

Lynsey Fearn started working for Busy Bees in April 2001 as a Nursery Nurse working with children aged two to three years. In 2002, Lynsey was promoted to Room Leader of the Out of School Club, running the before and after school club and holiday club.

In summer 2003, Lynsey transferred to the Busy Bees at Preston Hospital when she became a Deputy Manager working within the baby room with children aged three months to one year. Later that summer Lynsey returned to Brooke Street to open the new Out of School Building which she then became manager of.

In 2006 Lynsey also took on the role of Deputy Manager at Brooke Street and manages the nursery on a Thursday and Friday.

Lynsey has attended training on Safeguarding Children, British Safety Council Level 1 Health and Safety, Early Years Foundation Stage, Basic Food Hygiene, Special Education Needs and First Aid at Work.

  • Kindermusik sessions are offered to children over 2 years twice a week - at an additional cost
  • Ballet lessons are offered to children from 3 years. A Ballet Teacher comes twice a week - at an additional cost

Busy Bees at Brooke Street is regulated and inspected under the Children's Act by Ofsted and receives inspections and visits to ensure that our practices and procedures are in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) welfare requirements.

"The children are cared for in a warm and welcoming environment. Children's artwork, posters and information for parents is displayed and makes the setting bright and stimulating. There is lots of space available for the children to move around and extend their play."

"Staff set realistic expectations for the children and share warm relationships with them."

"Children’s personal, social and emotional development is well supported by staff. The children show good levels of involvement in their chosen activities. They share friendships with other children and seek them out to join in their play. The children clearly feel safe and secure and are confident to express their needs and wants."

Food for Thought

At Busy Bees at Brooke Street we make mealtimes happy social occasions, where skills can be developed and new foods tasted.

We are dedicated to providing your children with fresh, well-balanced meals every day; that not only taste great, but that also provide lots of nourishment.

Phil VickeryTo ensure we are providing well balanced, nutritious meals to our children, the Busy Bees catering team worked alongside Michelin-starred chef, Phil Vickery, and a child nutritionist to create a brand new range of delicious recipes to use, as part of the nurseries' day to day menus.

Our nursery has a fully equipped kitchen where all meals are prepared and cooked using only the freshest produce - including fresh fruit and vegetables every day.
