About Us

Hatfield Road was established in 2001 and is a two-storey building which provides a homely environment for all. The nursery has two spacious gardens which enable the children to extend their learning to the outdoors. The nursery has six rooms divided into age appropriate groups that are spacious and bright.

Situated on Hatfield Road in St Albans, the nursery is within close proximity to London. The nursery is near to the main train stations and on commuter routes for the M1, M25, A414 and A582

Meet the Manager

Lorraine qualified as a Nursery Nurse (NNEB) in 1999 and almost straight away started working for Busy Bees Nurseries.

After two years Lorraine became a senior member of staff which enabled her to experience the management side of working in a day nursery and she loved the fact that she could still interact with the children as well as have more responsibility within the nursery.

In 2005 Lorraine was promoted to Deputy Manager at Busy Bees at Hatfield Road, where she has worked ever since. In 2006 Lorraine was promoted to Nursery Manager and absolutely loves her job.

During her time at Busy Bees, Lorraine has attended several training courses including First Aid, Safeguarding Children, Behaviour Management, Customer Service, Food Hygiene and Early Years Foundation Stage: all of which she regularly attends refresher courses on.

Healthy Eating

Food for Thought

At Busy Bees at Hatfield Road we make mealtimes happy social occasions, where skills can be developed and new foods tasted.

We are dedicated to providing your children with fresh, well-balanced meals every day; that not only taste great, but that also provide lots of nourishment.

Phil VickeryTo ensure we are providing well balanced, nutritious meals to our children, the Busy Bees catering team worked alongside Michelin-starred chef, Phil Vickery, and a child nutritionist to create a brand new range of delicious recipes to use, as part of the nurseries' day to day menus.

[Click Here] to download a sample nursery menu and see some of the tasty dishes being served in our nurseries.

Our nursery has a fully equipped kitchen where all meals are prepared and cooked using only the freshest produce - including fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

Each meal is carefully planned to meet each child's individual needs and to cater for any special dietary requirements.

  • Children are provided with well-balanced and nutritious selection of snacks and meals throughout the day
  • Every child’s dietary requirements are catered for
  • The nursery grows their own vegetables and herbs in the nursery's garden with help from the children
  • The children are involved in regular cooking activities

Meet Our Catering Team

The nursery cook, Carolyn Lemare, has been in the catering industry since she was 19 years old. Carolyn's past employment has ranged from cooking home cooked meals, cakes and scones in a garden centre café to working in schools. She has also had experience of working on a film set. She feels her biggest achievement was passing her level 4 in food safety last year.

Carolyn says "I love working in the atmosphere of the nursery. Seeing the children always brings a smile to my face and knowing I’m providing them with a hearty and nutrious meal makes me feel proud of my role within the setting."
