Julie was promoted to a Room Leader position and completed courses in Makaton, First Aid in the Workplace, Food Safety, Improving Learning Outdoors, Child Protection, and Behaviour Management.

In September 2007, Julie enrolled on a three year Foundation Degree in Early Years at Leeds/Harrogate University: Because of the knowledge gained on the Foundation Degree, Julie put herself forward for promotion to cover the Deputy’s maternity leave. In May 2009, Julie was successfully promoted again to Childcare Manager.

Healthy Eating

Food for Thought

At Busy Bees at Colton Mill we make mealtimes happy social occasions, where skills can be developed and new foods tasted.

We are dedicated to providing your children with fresh, well-balanced meals every day; that not only taste great, but that also provide lots of nourishment.

Phil VickeryTo ensure we are providing well balanced, nutritious meals to our children, the Busy Bees catering team worked alongside Michelin-starred chef, Phil Vickery, and a child nutritionist to create a brand new range of delicious recipes to use, as part of the nurseries' day to day menus.

[Click Here] to download a sample nursery menu and see some of the tasty dishes being served in our nurseries.

Our nursery has a fully equipped kitchen where all meals are prepared and cooked using only the freshest produce - including fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

Each meal is carefully planned to meet each child's individual needs and to cater for any special dietary requirements.

  • We are supporting the government's Change4Life initiative
  • We teach the children about the importance of 5 a day and making healthy snacks including fruit smoothies and vegetable soups
