Why choose Busy Bees at Colton Mill: -

Our Nursery is a modern, bright, spacious and purpose built building with fantastic links to both the Leeds Ring Road (A63) and the A1/M1 motorways, making it easily accessible to families travelling from as far as York, Wetherby and Wakefield and as near as the Leeds villages of Colton, Kippax, Garforth, Whitkirk, Halton and Austhorpe to name but a few.

The nursery provides delicious home cooked food made in our on-site kitchen, with food which is nutritionally balanced and offering a healthy variety due to the 4 week rolling menus in place. We are also proud holders of a 5 star Hygiene rating from Environmental Health (last inspected in June 2011).

We provide a wonderful array of activities and events for all the children. Take a look through our ‘What’s on’ guide and News pages for a few examples of our monthly activities. We also offer music and singing classes in association with ABC Music and Me. We have our ‘Cooking with Me’ Initiative to involve the children with learning about cooking from the garden to the plate. We are also helping to get children active with our involvement in the Golden Mile Initiative in Support of The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust Charity and our ‘Wake and Shake’ Initiative.

As we opened in 2003, we are well established and equally well resourced. Our preschool also offers the perfect environment to help support your child with getting ready to start school. They have the use of PCs and an interactive Smart Board and take regular trips to local places of interest, such as leaf-picking in the Park in Autumn, trips to the Pantomime at Christmas, or looking at books in the Library during National Reading Week.

Your child’s health, care, enjoyment and interests are always at the forefront of everything we do. This is further demonstrated through us providing daily feedback through our Baby Diaries and our strong parent partnership relationships. Your child will have a dedicated key person responsible for their Learning Journal which tracks your child’s progress and development against the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum through progress reports and learning journeys. We also hold regular Parents’ Evenings.

We have a strong caring staff team who we’d love you to meet. Their qualifications range from NVQ level 2 through to degrees in Childhood Studies and many are now long serving members of the team here. Added to this we have a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator on site, a dedicated SENCO and a dedicated Child Safeguarding Officer.

We also achieved a Good rating from Ofsted in August 2011.

Make an appointment to come along and see more for yourself today. You only want the best for the most precious little person in your life and we want to provide your child with the best.

Busy Bees in Colton Mill, Leeds has two managers; Julie Clark (Childcare Manager) and Rebecca Barnard (Business Manager).

Julie started working for our Leeds childrens nursery in March 2005:

I started as a Nursery Assistant and undertook my NVQ Level 3 with Busy Bees. I was promoted to a Room Leader position and I completed courses in Makaton, First Aid in the Workplace, Food Safety, Improving Learning Outdoors, Child Protection, and Behaviour Management.

In September 2007, I enrolled on a three year Foundation Degree in Early Years at Leeds/Harrogate University: Because of the knowledge I gained on the Foundation Degree, I put myself forward for promotion to cover the Deputy’s maternity leave. In May 2009, I was successfully promoted again to Childcare Manager.

Rebecca started at Busy Bees in March 2006:

I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management and a Level 4 Certificate in Early Years Practice. I have also completed courses in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Behaviour Management, Healthy Eating and Food Nutrition and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

As a working mum, I can relate to the pressures involved and the balance required to raise a child whilst holding down a full time job and I am very happy and proud that my little girl can attend the Busy Bees nursery at Colton Mill and that she loves it here.
